  • UK Government Puts Wind In Mayflower's Sails

    The British Government has given UK energy company Innogy the go-ahead for a 90MW capacity wind farm at North Hoyle, off the Welsh coast. The project will provide the first work for the Mayflower Resolution, a specialised wind turbine installation vessel under construction in China for High Wycombe UK based offshore energy contractors Mayflower. 

  • First Halmatic Cara Marine Order

    The first pilot boat to result from Halmatic's acquisition of the Cara Marine workboat range will see a 52ft launch for the Clyde Ports Authority built at Halmatic's Portchester UK shipyard. 

  • UK MOD Upgrades Plymouth VTMS

    Following an upgrade order from the UK Ministry of Defence for its Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) installation at HM Naval Base Devonport, Denbridge Digital has replaced the existing Apex 7000 VTS display processors with its APX-8000 latest generation VTS workstations.

    Rotterdam-based maritime services provider SMIT has announced a new organisation and corporate strategy which sees it withdrawing from maritime contracting and re-focusing on its traditional core activities of harbour towage, terminals, salvage and transport, and heavy lift. There will also be a sharper focus on client relationships, with SMIT sharing its expertise rather than imposing it.

  • Early Extension for First 'Jumbo' Dredger

    Dredging International's trailing suction hopper dredger Pearl River, which launched the 'jumbo' dredger revolution when it entered service only eight years ago, has entered a Singapore shipyard for lengthening which will increase her capacity and a new dredging installation which will more than double the depth to which she can work.

    John Lightfoot, chairman of anti-glare roller screen manufacturer Solar Solve Marine, was surprised but delighted to be awarded an MBE in The Queen's Birthday Honours List.

    Norwegian shipyard Myklebust Verft has delivered its first diesel electric newbuilding - the multi-functional field supply and pipe carrier Skandi Rona - to Norwegian offshore owner District Offshore Rederi (DOF).
