UK MOD Upgrades Plymouth VTMS

Following an upgrade order from the UK Ministry of Defence for its Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) installation at HM Naval Base Devonport, Denbridge Digital has replaced the existing Apex 7000 VTS display processors with its APX-8000 latest generation VTS workstations.

The Plymouth VTMS consists of two networked control centres at Longroom and Flag. Each centre is now equipped with two APX-8000 VTS workstations in addition to the existing TMS-8200 track management system, two client terminals served by a shared VMS-8400 vessel traffic management information system as well as radar and track recording systems.

The APX-8000 is Denbridge Digital's fourth generation VTMS display processor.

The graphical user interface is based on the well proven Apex 7000, providing the operator with similar but enhanced functionality.

The APX-8000 is Denbridge Digital's first PC-based VTMS display and uses a Linux-based open architecture operating system. All scan conversion, and in this case decompression of compressed radar video data is carried out by Denbridge Digital's software.
