    New Low-cost Sidescan Sonar European Demos

    Destined for demonstrations throughout Europe early in the new year is a new compact low-cost portable sidescan sonar from Marine Sonic Technology (MSTL) of Virginia, the Centurion Sea Scan. Designed for search and recovery operations, it can be operational within minutes and needs only a 12V DC power source. 

    French Order for Seismic Integrated Positioning System

    French seismic survey company CGG has acquired three SIPS 2 seismic integrated positioning systems from Yateley-based Sonardyne International for real-time positioning of streamers in support of high-resolution 3D surveys aboard its vessels Mistral, Fohn and Harmattan. 

    Completion of Seven-year Irish Deep-water Survey

    The Geological Survey of Ireland in Dublin reports completion of the deep-water section of its seven-year Euro 32m National Seabed Survey project aimed at mapping an offshore area ten times larger than Ireland itself.

    California-based Thales Navigation has consolidated all its professional GPS products, including the Ashtech series of systems, under its own name by way of streamlining worldwide marketing operations including those in Europe.
