Thales Re-brands Products

California-based Thales Navigation has consolidated all its professional GPS products, including the Ashtech series of systems, under its own name by way of streamlining worldwide marketing operations including those in Europe.
The company originally acquired its Ashtech portfolio of products along with the Magellan Corporation in 2001.
Among latest company technical developments are recent introduction of the first commercial hand-held GPS receiver for positioning and navigation, and the first long-range kinematic (LRK) GPS system which is capable of centimetric accuracies over distances up to 40km. Other advances include a new GPS gyrocompass with no moving parts and an accuracy of 0.5infinity, the Sagitta 3011 Gyrosky, now being marketed throughout the UK and Ireland by Ormston Technology.
