Atlantas Marine and Nauticast AG Launch New AIS

Somerset UK based Atlantas Marine Ltd, well known for their distribution of the very useful VideoRay mini-ROV, have entered the IMO mandated growth arena for Automatic Identification Systems (AIS).

The first phase of compulsory installation began with newbuilds constructed from July of this year and will gradually be phased in to affect all commercial vessels by July 2008.

In light of this legislation, Atlantas Marine has teamed with Nauticast AG of Austria to promote their innovative AIS solution known as the 'X-Pack DS' system.

NautiCast specialises in developing, manufacturing and distributing AIS systems for the maritime industry. The compact X-Pack DS Transponder is produced to ISO 9001 standard in close cooperation with Siemens AG Austria and in full accordance with the Universal Automatic Identification System (UAIS) standard.

NautiCast has developed the 'all in one' unit which includes integrated interfaces to communicate with NMEA-compatible equipment and sensors. The compact unit measures 200 mm wide by 60 mm high by 280 mm long and weighs only 2,500 gm.

Easy to install and use, the X-Pack DS' main features include exchange of position, static, dynamic and voyage related data;

will broadcast any message or pre-programmed message to all ships or to a specific ship;

interfaces with PC, notebook PC, radar, ECDIS and Voyage Data Recorder (VDR); capable of graphic processing and display of navigation data; identifies all AIS equipped vessels within range;

and presents traffic images in conjunction with ECDIS.
