Skipa's Workboat Cleans Up

Since their launch at seawork2001 in Southampton, Skipa Marine's multi-purpose workboats have been impressing those looking for a cost-effective solution to the problems of maintaining marinas, harbours and waterways.

The boat was initially designed for cleaning waterways of litter and debris but Skipa's patented interchangeable pod system has made it into a true all-rounder, with deployments ranging from basic load carrying to dive platform, pollution control, and the disposal of dredged material.

Following a recent diesel spill at Swansea Marina, their Skipa was deployed with hydrophobic pads and booms, its manoeuvrability enabling it to work with great effect collecting oil from amongst pontoons and some 400 boats.

Skipa's new 9m wheelhouse version of the workboat will be unveiled at seawork2002, its development a direct result of interest shown by harbour masters and port managers at seawork2001. With orders already received this year from Milford Haven Docks, the Environment Agency and Hong Kong, 2002 looks set to reward the innovators at Skipa Marine.
