Jan De Nul Orders the World's Largest Deep Dredging Installation

The Jan de Nul Group of Belgium placed an order with IHC Holland for the design and delivery of equipment for the world's largest deep dredging installation for the trailing suction hopper dredger Vasco da Gama.

The Vasco da Gama is the largest trailing suction hopper dredger ever built, with a hopper capacity of 33,000m 3, two dredge pumps complete with IHC technology and components, and a power of 2 x 8,000kW during shore discharge.

The submerged pump installation will operate to a suction depth of 155m (extended vessel with a hopper capacity of 44,000m 3). The suction pipe has a diameter of 1,400mm.

The submerged pump unit type HRLD 228.56.130 has an installed power of 6,500kW.
