Briggs Group Acquires Keliston

The Briggs Group of counter-pollution and marine specialists has acquired the name and assets of the Ipswich UK-based marine civil engineering company Keliston. The new marine civil engineering company will trade under the name Keliston Marine Civil Engineers Ltd and the scope of services it will offer will include dredging, underwater drilling and blasting, underwater construction, pipeline installation, cable laying, and underwater cutting and demolition.
Robin Briggs, Briggs Group Chairman, said, 'The Keliston assets will complement the activities of the whole group, bringing to it in-house diving and specialised civil engineering expertise.'
The acquisition represents the establishment of a second base for Briggs Marine Contractors Ltd in the southern UK and will facilitate expansionary plans to secure new business in the region.
A new base in Ipswich has been earmarked as the home for Keliston. It will accommodate the existing Keliston employees and management team and will be developed as an oil spill response base for the South East.
