European Ship Design for China

Two European ship design and newbuilding supervision groups have joined forces to provide dedicated ship design for Chinese shipyards. Cardiff UK based Graig Plc and Carl Bro A/S of Copenhagen have launched Graig Carl Bro Ship Design to provide a full design service from a modern Shanghai office.
Graig and Carl Bro have worked together in China for the last five years, where shipyards are expected to double their share of the world newbuilding market.
Chinese shipyards currently rely on two local design offices which produce about 30 ship designs per year. Graig Carl Bro will provide new standard designs in addition to design consultancy from concept through to detailed design and drawing. The Shanghai office will have 10 staff using the latest design tools and software, drawing on European expertise to provide an on the spot service for a fast growing and increasingly technically demanding Chinese market.
