Passenger Boat Newbuild Underway at Voyager Yachts

The Plymouth-based Voyager Yachts boatyard is constructing a 65ft long, 21in beam passenger boat for Exmouth-based Stuart Line Cruises.
Constructed in mild steel, the vessel must run in very shallow water so the draft has been kept down to 4ft loaded. Carrying capacity will be 230 passengers on three decks, to be accommodated by toilets and galley facilities below the weather deck and a large saloon with bar/buffet aft.
The upper deck will feature a full width wheelhouse. Propulsion will be provided by twin engines and a bow thruster will aid manoeuvrability.
Voyager Yachts have built many passenger boats which work the harbours and estuaries along the south coast of England and as far afield as Loch Ness in Scotland. The yard has delivered similar vessels to Poole Harbour (two), Torquay, the River Dart, the Salcombe Estuary, and their native Plymouth Sound.
Voyager has designed the last three passenger boats it has built and also carries out surveys as well as compiling stability books for commercial and pleasure craft. Another interesting recent project was a major refit of a 40-year-old classic motor yacht.
