New Control System for Rotterdam's ECT

Germany's Port Technology, Gottwald's Terminal Systems Division, in co-operation with Navis LLC of California USA, have won an order from Rotterdam's ECT Delta Terminal to replace several existing terminal management systems by a single integrated software system for terminal management.

Port Technology has been contracted to replace a fleet control system for the ECT unmanned container transport system which presently includes more than 180 Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and more than 90 automated stacking cranes. Port Technology is responsible for the overall project management, co-ordinating all activities and acting as an interface between Gottwald and Navis.

The scope of supply of the two companies includes the process control and terminal management systems for the AGVs and automated stacking cranes as well as berth and yard planning.

The new overall terminal management software will be installed and commissioned in two stages over a two year period.

After system commissioning, ECT intends to make the transition from old to new software technology without decreasing performance in terminal operations.
