STN Atlas 'Always a Step Ahead'

Hamburg based STN Atlas Marine Electronics does not have far to travel for SMM 2002, where it will show a comprehensive range of advanced ship automation, communication, navigation, propulsion and power management systems under the theme Always A Step Ahead.

Featuring on Stand 12024 in Hall 12 a proprietary Ship Control Centre (SCC) integrating and automating all main bridge equipment operating functions for navigation, communications and general ship management.

It incorporates a latest NACOS series 4 navigation command system including Chartradar Atlas 1000, a new type-approved unit combining radar, charting and conning functions.

Chartradar Atlas 1000's innovative functions will also be featured separately together with other navaids, including the Debeg 3400 UAIS transponder with interface to Radarpilot 1000, Chartpilot, and a new 3401 DCU minimum keyboard display for retrofitting with the UAIS. Other featured systems comprise a VDR-100 voyage data recorder with data management unit and the Debeg 4124 integrated navigation and speed log with a combined 24 channel GPS Glonass receiver.

Advanced power generation and distribution facilities will be highlighted by a new shaft alternator with a pulse width modulated (PWM) converter.

A patented Primary Power Bus (PPB) distribution system for direct supply of generator power to all sectors of a ship will also be featured along with the Dolphin podded drive system for vessels requiring high speed and improved manoeuvrability.

New automation developments shown include current advances in integration being jointly carried out by STN ATlas Marine.
