New Data Relay for Coastal Workboats

A new pan-European short range radio telemetry system for relay of navigational data between all types of vessels at sea or offshore has been introduced by Ormston Technology.

Pairlink 3 is designed for typical use between dredgers, survey launches, tugs and fishing vessels. The system permits mutual exchange of NMEA navigational data for optimum accuracy in station keeping while also ensuring accurate separation of relative positions. It utilises harmonised radio frequencies to enable interoperability between vessels of all European nations.

Operating over ranges up to 2km, Pairlink 3 provides for nine user selectable radio channels. A special pair code, which is also user selectable, prevents unauthorised monitoring of data while a built in error detection facility prohibits relay of false or corrupted information.

Also, multiple pairs of units may be operated on the same radio channel at reduced data rates.
