The 82.1m long and 20m wide Series Normand Mariner is the second A101 and follows a prototype delivered to Olympic Shipping in January.

The 3,683dwt, 16.5 knot ship, Ulstein Verft's first own design since it separated from the Ulstein Group, is suited for a range of work, particularly anchor-handling in deep water.

The yard said particular attention had been paid to trim and stability.

Normand Mariner is powered by 4x9L32 MCR.4320kW Wartsila main engines for a total power put at 23,500bhp.

Deck equipment includes a 500 tonne BSL 500WX tow/ anchor-handling winch.

Towing power was shown to be at least 275 tonnes in trials carried out using the Olympic Shipping vessel. The A101 can also carry out supply services and be used for towing, installation and supply services as well as for work in subsea operations.

Ulstein Verft said: 'When designing the vessel, great importance has been attached to flexibility and functionality'.

The result, it said, was 'a top-line anchor-handling vessel with large capacity'.
