It is devoted to the supply, installation and service of AIS and VTS solutions, including surveillance and security equipment.

Norway's Norcontrol IT was founded in 2000 from a merger between Kongsberg Norcontrol Systems and Control IT. It specialises in the supply, installation and service of Vessel Traffic Management and Information Systems (VTMIS) for ports, harbours and coastal surveillance systems. The company's VTS solutions are currently operating in some 120 ports in 27 countries.

Norcontrol IT's combined systems of VTS and AIS are expected to compliment Tideland's range of navaids.

Plans are already in place to provide ports and harbours with complete management tools and integration of aids to navigation into a VTS system. This will also include items such as weather and sea conditions.

Tideland Maritime Systems will exclusively market its AIS solutions together with Norcontrol IT's VTS systems into a number of globally strategic areas, with plans to expand the joint services. The combined technology of VTS coupled with AIS provides an improved VTS system and also aids ports and harbours in complying with the new port security codes.
