Briggs Lands Three Year APT Marine Services Contract

Briggs Marine Contractors Ltd have won the Marine Services contract with Associated Petroleum Terminals (Immingham) Ltd.

Based on the south bank of the River Humber, APT is owned jointly by the TotalFinaElf and ConocoPhillips oil companies and serves the two local refineries.

The contract, won through competitive tendering, is for three years with an option for a further two. It will encompass the employment of 50 staff and the provision of vessels to carry out the berthing and unberthing of tankers onto jetties at Immingham Oil Terminal, South Killingholme Jetty and Immingham Gas Terminal plus all standby duties and associated tasks while the vessels are alongside.

The terminals currently handle approximately 2,750 vessels per annum and Briggs will provide the service round the clock every day of the year. Staff currently employed on the contract will be transferred to Briggs on 1 March 2003.

The prestigious contract award furthers the Briggs Group's ambitions in the UK marine terminal operations sector.
