Fixed Cost Machine Rental Lifts DFDS

DFDS Tor Line , which operates daily ro-ro traffic across the North and Baltic Seas, has expanded its rental and maintenance agreement with Kalmar Industries to cover the DFDS terminal in Rotterdam's Maasvlakte and the North Sea Terminal in Norway.

The rental agreement was originally signed two years ago providing for full maintenance of its equipment at the Esbjerg terminal in Denmark. The positive results achieved to date have led to the expansion of the scope of the agreement. Today the contract covers about 30 Kalmar machines, including terminal tractors, reachstackers and lift trucks.

The agreement concept was first drawn up for the DFDS Scandic Terminal, Esbjerg, with the assistance of Kalmar's Danish agent Arne Holst & Co. Under MOORING WINCHES TOWING WINCHES ANCHOR WINDLASS CARGO WINCHES P.T.O. s HYDRAULIC ELECTRIC DIESEL this agreement, DFDS Tor Line sold its existing equipment to Kalmar and then rented it back.

Included in the deal is ongoing service and maintenance which are taken care of by Arne Holst & Co in close co-operation IN-HOUSE DESIGN AND MANUFACTURE 35 YEARS EXPERIENCE HUGE RANGE OF PRODUCTS with Kalmar. Over the course of the agreement, new equipment from Kalmar has also been incorporated into the deal.

DFDS rents the equipment for a fixed monthly charge which covers financing and insurance. Kalmar has agreed to ensure the machines' availability under a fixed charge per hour structure which includes everything except fuel and tyres.
