    Repeat African Order for De Groot Nijkerk

    The Netherlands' De Groot Nijkerk has received a repeat order from an African client for a dismountable cutter suction dredger specially designed to tackle annual siltation problems in inland waterways. These are in fact irrigation channels which silt up during the rainy season, threatening vitally important crops of sugar cane, sorghum, cotton and wheat. 

    More Izar Sestao Newbuild for Jan de Nul

    Spain's Izar Sestao Shipyard launched the second of twin 11,300m 3trailing suction hopper dredgers last month for Belgian dredging giant Jande Nul . The launch ceremony for the Francis Beaufort wasfollowed by a naming ceremony for the Filippo Brunelleschi , which was launched two months earlier. 

    VOSTA LMG and Damen to Build Vietnam Dredger

    Vosta LMG 's Amsterdam office will act as main contractors for a 1,500m 3capacity trailing suction hopper dredger to be built at Damen Shipyards Cargo Vessels in Hoogezand. The vessel, for Waterway Dredging and Construction Company 1 of Vietnam, will be delivered in the first quarter of next year. 

    Extended 'WD Fairway' Goes Back to Work

    Boskalis ' jumbo trailing suction hopper dredger WDFairway has been restored to its former eminence as the world's largest dredger following the completion of lengthening and other works at the Sembawang Shipyard in Singapore. 

    Mixed Results for Dutch Dredging Trio

    The 'Big Three' major Dutch dredging contractors have all reported significant profits for 2002 despite a second half slowdown and an uncertain future clouded by a sluggish world economy, war, and sand-winning rights disputes.
