Leisure Marine Activity Up 45% for Bank of Scotland

Leisure boating activity has shown rapid growth in many parts of the UK this year according to Bank of Scotland Marine Finance .

Lending to marine customers was up 45% over the first four months of 2003 and the number of deals completed had increased by 35%. The news mirrors the Wednesday theme at the seawork2003 conference; there is opportunity aplenty in leisure marine facilities development.

East coast regions of the United Kingdom seem to be doing particularly well, with Bank of Scotland Marine Finance reporting significant increases in business at Burton Waters Marina in Lincoln, Clarke and Carter in East Anglia and Essex as well as BA Peters and Foxes in Ipswich. Business is also reportedly brisk in Nottinghamshire. A relatively new business doing well with Bank of Scotland Marine Finance in the eastern UK is Yamaha Marine.

Direct access to the sea and several major rivers are seen as geographical factors encouaging the flourish of regional activity.
