Each tower is of GRP and 5m high, equipped with a solar powered ML-300 lantern and batteries. Tideland's ML-300 lantern is a lightweight, corrosion resistant design featuring a one piece acrylic Fresnel lens capable of achieving up to 19,800 candela and a range of 18 nautical miles.

The lanterns for KOC are equipped with Tideland's TF-3B MicroPower Omnibus flasher/lampchanger equipment, which incorporates a timer circuit card to permit input voltages up to 36V and provides up to 256 user-selectable flash codes.

The towers will be built in the UK and shipped in sections for simple in-situ assembly. They are designed to withstand winds up to 125mph and will be mounted on piles at least 3m above the high water mark to minimise the risk of collisions and barnacle growth. They are equipped with both external and internal ladders of stainless steel, access doors, battery racks and lightning conductors.

Tideland Signal will be showing some of its range of aids to navigation, including the latest UAIS and diode based lanterns at the UK Harbour Masters spring seminar in the IMarEST Conference Centre, London, on Wednesday 2 April.
