Hammar Nails Confusion with New Release Unit

Swedish safety equipment manufacturer CM Hammar has launched a new version of the Hydrostatic Release Unit which is a widely recognised component of innumerable liferafts and EPIRBs.

The new Unit, bearing the same H20 name as its predecessor, is designed with a 3-step coupling device that eliminates the risk of incorrect installation. Hammar's trademarked Weak Link is now integrated into a new black thimble for smaller tolerances and stronger lower thimble construction.

For the end user, the new design will be noticeable by the clear and easily understood installation, with the thimble, for instance, clearly marked with "DECK" to avoid confusion and possible upside-down installation. Each unit is supplied with a multilingual installation manual and an instructive self-adhesive label for the liferaft container.

As with its predecessor, the new H20 needs no service or maintenance for two years and has no corrosive parts inside.

New and old H20s are 100% compatible so the new model can replace any of the older type.
