Single Branding for DaimlerChrysler Marine Diesels
01 Mar 2003
All Daimler-Chrysler marine engines will now be singlebranded as MTU regardless of whether they are manufactured by the Detroit Diesel Corporation in Michigan USA or by MTU in Friedrichshafen, Germany. The single brand strategy has been defined since DaimlerChrysler AG acquired the Detroit Diesel Corporation in October 2000.
The route announced for the new canal runs from the Grand Union Canal in Milton Keynes and connects with the River Great Ouse at Kempston.
DaimlerChrysler now focuses its marine and other off-highway activities in a single business unit called DaimlerChrysler Off-Highway. It is one of the largest manufacturers of diesel engines and is now marketing its Series 2000 and 4000 units as 'World Engines'. All marine engines built after 1 January 2003 will have identical technical features regardless of where they are manufactured. Previously market specific options are now available globally, giving shipyards and operators a broader range of choice.
