Portable Marine Oil Viscosity Testing

Oil is the lifeblood of marine engines as it cleans, cools, lubricates and can reveal valuable information about internal conditions via oil viscosity testing. The Kittiwake Viscotube has just been launched to test oil viscosity in all land based and marine engines.

Suitable for hydraulics, lubrication systems and fuel oils, it makes it easy to test oil routinely to ensure reliable running of engines, hydraulics and driven machinery.

The standard unit of measure for oil is in centistokes at 40ºC. With Viscotube, samples can be tested on site for later inputting to software, giving accurate results to this standard.

Weighing only 0.5kg, the instrument can be carried easily to sample points throughout the ship.

The Viscotube kit comes complete with a falling ball tube with a clear screw cap at each end, a tripod support stand, mirror base plate, three sizes of ball, a digital thermometer, and a CD with instructions plus the downloadable viscosity calculation software.
