EU Bans Single Hull Tankers

The EU has officially adopted its unilateral plan for the accelerated phasing out of single hull tankers. The regulation places a ban on the the transportation of heavy oils in single hull tankers of 5,000dwt or above sailing to or from EU ports. It also accelerates the phasing out of single hull oil tankers on a schedule linked to a vessel’s MARPOL category.
