Queen’s Wharf Rebuild Completed

The £4m reconstruction of the Queen’s Wharf in Falmouth has been completed, enabling ship repair and port services specialist A&P Falmouth to resume normal operations. The original structure was destroyed by a fire in January.

One of the last parts to be completed was a final section of concrete deck that was poured onto the pre-cast slabs installed by Plymouth based civil engineers long and 18m wide, the new wharf is much the same size as the old but will provide better facilities and is designed so that Seastructures. Seastructures had earlier demolished the remains of the old wharf and driven 120 supporting steel piles. At 195m the berths can be dredged to 9m alongside at a later date. The works, which were project managed by Gleeds, saw Seastructures meet the target date for completion at the end of a smooth running operation.
