The £1 Million Load Lifter

Great Yarmouth Stevedoring faced a difficult task last month when required to unload a 20m long, 89 tonne drilling rig valued at £1 million from the hold of a cargo ship. They consulted Lifting Gear Hire, which specified a pair of 50 tonne Modular Lifting Beams plus wire rope slings to ensure safe carriage for the valuable load.
Lifted using two 60 tonne ship/shore cranes, the drilling rig was lifted safely into place onto transport vehicles for delivery to a fabrication yard where it was to be modified prior to being shipped to Abu Dhabi.
The Modular Lifting Beam provides solutions to problems requiring the lift of awkward or unusual loads. Variable in length and capacities, the Modular Beam system can be assembled in an almost infinite variety of configurations to suit a variety of applications.
