PIANC Organises Seminar on Navigating the EU Water Framework Directive
01 Oct 2003
PIANC is organising a conference which is due to take place on 30 October 2003 on the Implications of the EU Water Framework Directive.
The conference, entitled 'Navigating the EU Water Framework Directive, ' will take place in Brussels, Belgium.
As PIANC points out, the EU Water Framework Directive (WFD) affects all water bodies.
Arguably the most important and influential EU water legislation, the WFD establishes a new, integrated approach to water protection, improvement and sustainable use and it will undoubtedly have far-reaching effects. Its objectives are to prevent further water quality deterioration and, where feasible, to restore water bodies to good status by 2015.
Some of the most significant steps in the implementation process must be completed by the end of 2004.
For many of those involved in ports, harbours, navigation and dredging, the importance of becoming aware of the Water Framework Directive, and of getting involved in its implementation cannot be overstated.
The venue for the event is Hadewijch Auditorium, Hendrik Conscience Building, Koning Albert II-laan 15, B-1210 Brussels, Belgium.
The registration fee of 250 includes lunch and refreshments.
The seminar language is English.
