Powerful Xenon Bow Light

Norselight has developed its new BL35 MX xenon bow light in conjunction with several fast ferry operators and, following successful pilot projects, has placed it on the market. The powerful xenon light is similar to the headlights of a car and allows the navigator to see obstacles such as logs and buoys quickly, allowing critical time for evasive action.

Mounted on the bow of the vessel, the micro xenon light delivers a good spread of illumination when manoeuvring in the narrow, murky waters between Norway’s islands and fjords. The dual light and reflector can be individually operated, allowing combinations of wide and narrow beams.

The Norwegian Coast Guard Rescue Service ordered the BL35 MX for several vessels and plans to upgrade its whole fleet. Norselight has also confirmed major orders to coastal fast ferry operators OVDS, TFDS, Helgelanske Traffikkselskap, and Finnmark Fylkesrederi. Norselight supplies two versions of the BL35 MX; one for single hulls and the other for catamarans. The catamaran hull application has two fittings, one for port and one for starboard, with a wide and narrow light beam.
