Management Information Added to Cork VTS

Bremen-based Atlas Elektronik is to extend Cord Harbour Authority's VTS network with the addition of an all-purpose Management Information System (MIS) facilitating overall port management and traffic control as well as general administration.
It will be used not only for collation and issuance of all port fees but also for administration of contracts covering leasing or related real estate and warehouse facilities.
Supplementary utilities include a comprehensive statistics package for planning of future port activities, listing of safety measures, and a managerial suite for scheduling of rosters covering VTS staff, pilots and launch personnel.
Cork's VTS is one of four radar based networks originally developed by Atlas Elektronik under a contract supported by the Irish Department of Marine & Natural Resources, the others being at Rosslare, Shannon Estuary, and Waterford. All systems incorporate AIS facilities.
