Daewoo Deal Done in Rotterdam
01 Dec 2004
The new engines are the third pair sold by WaterMota to the Williams Shipping Group.
Both Williams' director Philip Williams and WaterMota MD Mike Beacham were in Rotterdam for the signing.
Rotterdam Maritime served as a meeting and seminar point for all Daewoo's European distributors, celebrating the recent completion of the manufacturer's European puzzle with Nanni Diesel signing to distribute the engines in France.
A number of top Daewoo executives flew in from Korea for an occasion which also saw the European launch of an extended engine range. The new models will be launched by WaterMota in the UK at the London Boat Show and will be more thoroughly covered in the January issue of MJ . Williams is presently tendering for the refit of the Seahorse , which works mostly in the Port of Milford Haven. Work will commence in the New Year, with the new Daewoos replacing Ivecos. Combined engine power will be boosted from 880hp to 960hp, giving Seahorse an anticipated bollard pull of 11 tons. WaterMota reports sales of between six and 10 Daewoo marine engines every month, with operators responding to competitive prices which include ancillaries and four week delivery times.
