Dover Ramp Contract Completed
01 Dec 2004
Edmund Nuttall Ltd successfully installed prefabricated vehicle and passenger walkway ramps last month under their design and construct contract with Dover Harbour Board UK for the new Pier F and Berths 8 & 9.
Two 60m long vehicle decks, weighing in excess of 300 tons, were positioned by the 1,500 ton capacity floating sheerlegs Matador 3 , operated by Rotterdam's Bonn & Mees.
The fully fitted assemblies were built in and shipped from Holland to be positioned over a three day period by subcontractor Hollandia BV.
Together with a high level passenger walkway, the ramps are hydraulically operated to speed ro-ro operations.
Separate stair tower buildings have been provided for the new Berths 8 & 9, with the 220m long fully fendered pier able to accept vessels up to 27,000 tons.
