01 Dec 2004
Mustang Marine , which celebrates 20 years of trading this month, has taken over the former Milford Haven Ship Repairers south yard and now operates the largest working slipway on the UK's West Coast. The business now employs some 36 people on a 3.8 acre waterfront site.
Since the MHSR acquisition earlier this year, Mustang has slipped eight vessels for various refit works in addition to a major conversion of the South Wales Sea Fisheries Joint Committee vessel Cranogwen .The summer saw the construction of the 1506 self propelled pontoon MV Clearwater for the Port of Tyne plus two harbour launches for the British Antarctic Survey. Two fast ferries have also been launched for the St Marys and St Martins Boatmen in the Scilly Isles.
Mustang Marine has acquired an 80% stake in Ocean Dynamics International Ltd and is actively promoting the Ribworker range of RIBs. In conjunction with Suzuki Marine, the Ribworker range has been extended to the leisure market with the Ribworker Defender. Since Mustang's association with Ocean Dynamics some 20 vessels have been built. Two major new contracts have been awarded in recent weeks and a further two are in the pipeline.
