KDamen's Biggest Dredger

The hull of the dredger Scelveringhe , the largest vessel ever ordered from the Dutch Shipyard KDamen BV , arrived at Hardinxveld-Giessendam late last month under tow from the Danish tug Eurosund .
The complete hull had been built at the Aker Braila yard in Romania for delivery to K Damen's facility following the four week tow. It is currently being outfitted and completed by Shipyard K Damen.
The dredger, which will be deployed for sand winning operations, has been built for the four Den Herder brothers who operate Scelveringhe Scheepvaart BV out of Yerseke.
It will be fitted with a 4,320kW MAK propulsion engine driving a 3.6m diameter Lips controllable pitch propeller. A 1,800kW MAK engine will directly drive the dredge pump. The vessel will have a capacity of 3,880m 3and its own dry unloading installation.
