The Rock Rolls On With VT Halmatic

VT Halmatic has signed a contract with the Gibraltar Harbour Board to supply a third Halmatic 35 pilot boat to its pilotage fleet. The optimised 35 features a resiliently mounted wheelhouse for improved comfort and visibility for the crew of two and two pilots.

The isolated wheelhouse reduces noise levels to 75db at maximum engine rpm and also cuts vibration from the machinery space.

With equipment levels significantly improved from that found on the previous Nelson 35, the new model can be had with twin 215hp Perkins Sabre M215C or 205hp Caterpillar 3056TA engines driving the 9.5 tonne displacement craft through Twin Disc MG 5050A gearboxes for a top speed of 21 knots.

The new pilot boat joins a list of VT Halmatic built vessels already in Gibraltar serving with the Ministry of Defence Police, the Royal Navy's Gibraltar Squadron, Royal Gibraltar Police, Queen's Harbour Master, Gibraltar Port Authority, and the Royal Air Force.
