ISU Welcomes Release

The International Salvage Union (ISU) has welcomed the release from detention in Pakistan of Tsavliris Salvage Master Nicolas Pappas and members of the crew of the tanker Tasman Spirit , which had run aground and broken up in the approaches to the Port of Karachi . The ISU called upon Spain to follow the example set by Pakistan and repatriate Captain Mangouras, Master of the tanker Prestige , who remains unable to leave Spain more than two years after the sinking of his vessel off the Spanish coast.

RNLI Delivery Marks Souter Return

Isle of Wight UK based Souter Marine has emerged from a recent change of ownership to deliver the 43rd Severn Class Lifeboat to the RNLI last month. Following the completion of crew training, the Donald and Barbara Broadhead, ON 1276 , will be stationed at Rosslare Harbour, Co Wexford in Ireland and will serve the surrounding area, including the busy local ferry routes and commercial shipping lanes.

'Resolution' Rises From Mayflower Ashes

Mayflower Resolution the unique, purpose-built offshore windfarm installation vessel which arrived in the UK shortly before Mayflower Group plc collapsed on 1 April, has been rescued from uncertainty by a management buy-out of the business and assets of Mayflower Energy Ltd . The acquisition, funded by Mizuho International plc , was completed late last month from administrators Deloitte & Touche .
