Bilge Cleaning System Meets IMO Regulations

Sweden based Marinfloc AB claims to be the first and only company currently manufacturing an Emulsion Breaking Bilge Water Cleaning System (EBBWCS) that gives shipowners and shipyards a solution to fulfil the new IMO environmental regulations for newbuilding which come into force on 1 January 2005.

The new Marinfloc Mk III Type CD fully complies with the new IMO MEPC 107 (49). With time running short for specifying equipment for new vessels to be delivered after 1 January 2005, the new product will be of interest to both shipowners and shipbuilders.

The newly developed and recently launched EBBWCS Marinfloc Mk III Type CD is a fully automatic, constant flow system. The new design has also resulted in even less sensitivity to tensides, soot, fibres and chemicals.

It requires less need for pre-heating of the process water while having a higher tolerance to fluctuations in the pH value. The separating and emulsion breaking technology used in the Mk III Type CD keeps the water content in the drain/refuse to a minimum.

In line with its predecessors, the Mk I and Mk II, the processed effluent water in the Mk III contains less than 5ppm of oil.

For installation purposes, the new Mk III has very small footprints in relation to its capacity.
