Mooring Bollard Eases Alongside at SMM

TTS Marine Cranes ASA of Norway launched a new product at SMM which promises to make mooring operations safer and more cost effective. The ship mounted TTS Winch Bollard mooring system can replace mooring winches, capstan, wrapping drums and bollard normally used for mooring.

The new TTS Winch Bollard made its debut at SMM last month.

Operated by one man using a moveable foot operated pedal, the Winch Bollard provides direct mooring without the use of stoppers. An integrated emergency stop and fail safe brakes optimise safety. The low-noise unit features stepless speed control and automatically reduces line speed when the load is increased. Deck space requirements are also reduced as the unitised Winch Bollard occupies less space than the conventional mooring equipment it replaces.

The Winch Bollard is available in an electric version which includes a frequency converter with a control unit or a hydraulic version which is prepared for connection to a vessel's ring line system or HPU.

Also announced at SMM, TTS Marine ASA has signed a letter of intent to purchase the crane division of Lubecker Maschinenbau Gesellschaft GmbH (LMG) of Germany.

The division, which employs 20 people and has an annual turnover approaching ? 6m, will now operate under the name TTS LMG GmbH from the same facilities in Lubeck. LMG has delivered some 1,200 marine cranes over the past 35 years and was first to develop and introduce the slim deck crane, with a lifting capacity of 36 tons at an outreach of 28m.
