New Simrad ECS Systems

Simrad of Norway has launched a new range of electronic chart systems, the CS50 and CS60 Series, designed for vessels operating on fixed routes such as Ro-Ro ferries and local supply craft; fast update rates also make them ideal for high-speed craft as well as survey, coastal and river vessels, the company adds.

The CS50 Series comprises two versions, with the CS55 featuring a compact Simrad marine computer with up to four interface ports, and the CS56 having a similar computer with up to ten serial ports. Conversely, the two-model CS60 Series (CS65 and CS66) is suited for applications requiring ongoing route planning with extended display and input options.

There is also a head-up display facility for countering prospective dangers ahead of own-ship. CS56 and 66 systems area additionally available with a so-called 'Raid' (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) solution, enabling uninterrupted operation in the event of any hard disk failure.
