First Sale of New Marinus System to GSE

VT TSS of Watford reports the first sale of its new Marinus attitude heading and reference system, to Aberdeen-based GSE Rentals .

Providing heading, heave, roll and pitch correction data in sea dynamics otherwise beyond the capability of competing systems, the unit's exceptional accuracy in extreme conditions will enable multibeam sonar users to extend their operational working seasons well beyond the norm, says VT TSS Technology Director, Steve Cowls.Launched at Oceanology International last March, Marinus provides a heading follow-up speed of 1000infinity/second and a dynamic accuracy of< ±0.1infinity RMS; roll and pitch range is ± 90infinity with an accuracy of 0.025infinity. High accuracy is combined with a fast output rate and limitless motion within a small, light ruggedised package supported by proprietary real-time and delayed heave algorithms used in conjunction with a ring laser gyro. It has a depth rating of 3,000m.GSE Rentals, which already maintains a sizeable inventory of VT TSS equipment for worldwide availability, says the new addition will be particularly useful in supplying attitude and heading data for ROV- mounted multibeam sonar systems.
