Successful Season at Seatrek Training

Seatrek Training of Argyll has enjoyed an exceptionally busy season with its programme of commercial workboat training.

Principal Lesley Robertson said, 'Seatrek Training has gone from strength to strength this year, with a record number of commercial workboat candidates successfully trained this season alone. An interesting recent development has been the introduction of both displacement and planing hull workboats offering a wider training scope for students.'

Seatrek instructors and skippers have travelled throughout the UK to deliver training specific to the commercial workboat sector.

Worthy of note is the extension of the client base to include the Emergency Planning Department of The Highland Council, where boat-handling skills have been developed for potential oil spill emergencies.

Back at the main operation in Argyll, the new acquisition Nelson 45 workboat has been busy hosting monthly training courses, with packages including full board and lodging proving attractive to the workboat industry.

On shore, the full time programme of marine training continues to be well supported year round, and includes Personal Survival Techniques, First Aid, SRC Marine Radio and Navigation Theory, all delivered with a strong orientation to the needs of the commercial workboat community.
