Seawork 2005 Review

North Sea Makes a Haul at Seawork

North Sea Winches exhibited at Seawork for the third consecutive year and has already reaped the benefit with two confirmed orders and more in the pipeline. Business at the show proved brisk as an improved stand location attracted more casual visitors as well as those targeting specific products.

North Sea also noticed an increased number of fishing industry visitors from the South of England who are using Seawork as an alternative to the long trek to Glasgow. They can attend confident in the knowledge that the show has a fair representation of deck machinery manufacturers, boat builders, and crane and hydraulics suppliers.

The first Seawork 2005 order was for a winch and full engine room hydraulics package for anchor handling and line retrieval duties on a charter boat out of Littlehampton. This was a new contact which should result in further work with the boat builder involved.

This was followed by an order for a 1.5 ton electric slipway winch for slipping small vessels on the River Thames.

North Sea Winches has made many such winches with electric or hydraulic drive from smaller yachting applications up to commercial slips for larger vessels in locations as far afield as Tonga, Puerto Deseada in Argentina and Columbo in Sri Lanka.

North Sea Winches' sales manager T R Milner said, ' Seawork has proved an invaluable location for making contacts within the marine industry in terms of both promoting and selling our company and its products and sourcing new suppliers for existing components and new design concepts. We have provisionally reserved our stand for next year and look forward to continuing our good relationship with Seawork and to further successes at the show.'
