Crane's Claim to Fame at Seawork Exhibition
01 Jul 2005
One of the lifting equipment highlights of Seawork 2005 , on display in the Innovations Showcase and also represented on the Wave Seven Marine stand, was the new marina lifting crane manufactured by Vermeer-Holland .
Unlike most marina cranes, which utilise a cable wound around a winch, the Vermeer Holland product deploys elevator technology to place a hydraulic ram inside the crane arm. This puts most of the working parts inside the crane arm and means that if the crane needs servicing, it can be lowered to the ground easily.
The Jachtwerf Verduin marina at Akersloot in the Netherlands has recently signed an order for the 12 ton version of the crane. A remote control model, it features a 4m flight and a lift of 6.5m with 3600 slewing.
The Vermeer-Holland range currently extends upwards to models of 30 ton capacity with the flight ranging from 3.5m to 5.5m but larger models will be built on request.
