Final Dredging for Skandia

The Port of Gothenburg in Sweden says container terminal enhancement work at the port's new Skandia Harbour has reached a stage where final dredging off the deepsea container berths is possible.

After the fairways were deepened, the bottom immediately off the container berths was left undredged to await the completion of quayside reinforcement.

This stage has now been reached, and dredging from 12m to 15m along a 500m stretch of quay at the Skandia Container Terminal got underway at the end of May and is due to be completed by the end of June, a full year earlier than was originally planned.

Work on the quay itself, the areas behind the quay and the construction of a new crane rail continue, and should be completed in September.
