Jenkins Buys Dean & Dyball Marine Equipment
01 Mar 2005
Jenkins Marine's Operations Manager, Jeremy Jenkins, told Maritime Journal, 'With this purchase we have enlarged our fleet, expanded our operations and now look to the future with great enthusiasm.'
Jenkins Marine has acquired the self-propelled spud leg barge Doreen Dorward (a familiar sight on the pontoons at Seawork ), the Damen Multicat Buffalo and two smaller workboats, Beaver and Pug 4 .
All have been repainted and re-branded in the Jenkins Marine livery and deployed on projects.
Doreen Dorward iscurrently working on a piling contract in Poole while Buffalo is working alongside another Jenkins vessel, in support of a dredging contract in Plymouth.
Excavators, cranes and dredging support equipment were also included in the purchase, which brings Jenkins Marine's total fleet size to 12 vessels.
Mick O'Brien, who previously worked with Dean & Dyball for 20 years and left as Marine Manager, is the new Contracts Manager at Jenkins Marine, dealing with all marine civils work. Also crossing over to Jenkins Marine were Doreen Dorward's skipper and piling foreman.
With this increase in their workforce, the expansion of their fleet has enabled Jenkins Marine to provide a more comprehensive service as a contractor and to the wider charter market.
