MCA Orders Seabat Multi-Beam

The UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency has ordered a Reson SeaBat 7125 multibeam echosounder system for installation on its emergency towing vessel, MV Anglian Sovereign . The MCA says the system will enhance the secondary role capabilities of the vessel by adding an object detection capability in support of updating domestic nautical charts and publications.

The wideband focused SeaBat 7125 is to be installed in an under hull blister and will operate in a dual frequency configuration of 200kHz and 400kHz covering a swathe width of 1300 with over 400m slant range. Other equipment to be interfaced to the system comprises an Applanix POS MV inertial position and orientation unit utilising Fugro XP Differential GPS corrections.

The order is the second UK one recently obtained by Reson of Denmark following commissioning of a comparable system by the Port of Tyne.
