The new Quantum Series builds on the reputation of the proven Cummins KTA19, KTA38 and KTA50 products. With ratings from 500 to 800hp (373 to 597kW) the QSK19 is suited for high-hour, demanding applications such as towing, cargo and passenger transport, fishing, and ship’s power.An advanced, in-cylinder combustion process provides the mechanism to meet global Tier 2 and Phase II emissions standards. Cummins’ Modular Common Rail Fuel System (MCRS) allows multiple injection events to precisely control engine fuelling. The constant high injection pressure improves performance, delivers more low end torque and significantly reduces noise and vibration, with no visible smoke across the operating range.

The MCRS differs from typical common rail systems in that electronically actuated injectors feature an integrated fuel accumulator which enables connection in series, eliminating the need for a large forged common rail. This modification, coupled with double-wall fuel lines results in a safer and more reliable system.

Quantum System electronics are driven by a sophisticated CM 850 controller. Integrated information systems and panels help to maximise engine efficiency and performance while providing diagnostic and prognostic data. A single point of connection in the customer interface box simplifies the link between the engine electronics and vessel systems. Minimal changes to footprint, mounts, ratings and optional equipment from the current K and KV engines ensure less complexity for new installation and repowers. With enhancements to engine sub-systems, there are no added service requirements.
