NewGeneration of Sector Lights Launched

Hampshire UK based manufacturer and supplier of aids to navigation Hydrosphere has launched the new Vega VLS-46 LED precision sector lights, which combine the latest LED technology with precision engineering and lens manufacturing to produce a completely new generation of navigation lights. These lights complement the existing range of longer range and daylight PEL precision sector lamps by providing a lower cost solution for shorter range applications.
These new units use three or more LED projectors to achieve the required total sector subtense. LEDs, if properly power and heat managed, have an operating life of at least 100,000 hours and are proven to be efficient and reliable.
Low power consumption is another significant benefit.
A typical fixed character array using three projectors will consume fewer than 5 Watts at 12 Volts. For flashed characters, an optional daylight switch and flash character generator is also available and consumption will be appropriately reduced for flashing duty cycles.
This low power consumption makes the lights highly suited to a solar power source. Night visibility is up to 10 miles, making the lights ideal for smaller harbour, river and docking situations.
Each projector has a horizontally field-adjustable sub-tense from 0.5infinity to 5.0infinity.
Larger arcs can be achieved by adding an additional (same colour) projector. Due to the precision with which the units are manufactured, and the quality of the LEDs, a boundary resolution of 3 minutes of arc is achieved. A fully adjustable base plate provides easy, on-site, colour boundary alignment.
