Transas Celebrates Birthday at Europort

Celebrating 15 years in business at Europort Maritime will be safety systems and simulators manufacturer Transas Group. Founded in 1990 in St Petersburg, Russia, Transas has grown to where it now retains 30% of the world market for ECDIS systems and has created an electronic chart collection containing 13,000 items.
Transas simulators are now placed in maritime training centres globally and one of the most recent installations has been for the Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport at the University of Ljubljana in Slovenia.
This remarkable simulator complex from Transas, which will host the 7th International Conference on Engine Room Simulators in November, consists of an Engine Room Simulator 4000 Version 2 with one full mission trainee workplace, providing main diesel, electric plant, auxiliary and cargo systems. Also included is a GMDSS 4100 with one instructor place plus eight trainee workstations, PISCES-II configured for one instructor and five trainees, Navi-Trainer Professional 4000 incorporating three bridges, each with conning display, Conning Visual 4000, radar, ECDIS and navaids, plus one workplace comprising Navi Harbour 3.7.
All of this equipment is contained within one facility and has been used already to conduct joint exercises. An AIS monitor is located separately and records data from police radar. GMDSS is installed on all of the bridges in a configuration which integrates one workstation on each bridge.
The University of Ljubljana dates to the 16th Century. The Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport was founded in 1960, engaging in scientific and research work in the field of maritime studies and transport.
