Dutch Spill Response Group Founded

Fifteen companies, organisations and institutes all active in combating oil and chemical spills on or next to the water have united in the Spill Response Group Holland (SRGH), whose purpose is to promote awareness of the knowledge, products and services available in the Netherlands.

The extremely effective deployment of the Dutch oil spill response vessel Arca at the time of the Prestige disaster demonstrated the expertise available within the country. This expertise is not only available through the Dutch Directorate General for Public Works and Water Management, which owns the Arca, but also at other SRGH members such as Smit Salvage, AVR Industrial Services, Damen Shipyards, IHC Holland, and institutes such as TNO and WL Delft Hydraulics.

Other member companies include oil spill equipment suppliers such as the Kampers Group and Seadarq, which has developed an innovative radar to detect oil spills. Other members are Marflex, Oil Control Systems, Franken, Absorbit, EnSaCo, and Accidental Spill Control Consultancy.
