General Offshore Returns to Shallow Water
01 Apr 2006
With the present upturn in the cable industry there is an increasing need for experienced and professional shallow water contractors to undertake installation works in areas too shallow for conventional cable laying ships. General Offshore Ltd has recently completed a project to remove some 70 cables and install a further 20 cables in the Western Approaches and is currently preparing for cable installation operations in the Channel Islands.
The re-formed company has its head office on board the 'HQS Wellington' in Central London but operates worldwide through a network of offices and local agents.
In addition to its own vessels, barges and other craft are chartered as required. These are managed when under contract by General Offshore personnel.
Various existing shallow water cable laying vessels are currently being viewed with regard to General Offshore purchasing or taking on long-term charter to undertake planned installation works in the immediate future.
